Structure
The Technology and Public Policy (TPP) continuing education programme consists of two Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), which can be upgraded to a Master of Adanced Studies (MAS).
Content-wise, the TPP programme covers the entire functional chain of policy analysis. It is structured around a public policy analysis framework that encompasses politics (the input into the policy process) and policy (the output of the policy process, such as laws and regulations), as well as the effects of these policies on technology and society (outcomes).

The TPP degrees
The two CAS TPP degrees are structured in line with the public policy analysis framework:
- The CAS TPP: Policy Process (15 ECTS) degree focuses on how to systematically analyse, design and manage policy-making processes (Input-Output dimension)
- The CAS TPP: Impact Analysis (15 ECTS) degree focuses on how to assess policy options in terms of their expected effects, in order to identify appropriate policy designs; and to evaluate the implications of existing policies after implementation (Output-Outcome dimension)

Each of the two CAS TPP degrees can be taken separately and via part-time study, meaning that it is not a prerequisite to take one CAS degree before the other.
Each CAS TPP degree is worth 15 ECTS, which equals around 450 hours of workload in total for each CAS TPP degree. The credits reflect the total workload, including preparation and follow-up.

The Master of Advanced Studies in Technology and Public Policy (MAS TPP), which is worth 60 ECTS, offers participants the possibility to further broaden their competencies and policy analysis skills at the interesection of Technology and Public Policy.
In addition to completing the CAS TPP: Policy Process degree (15 ECTS) and the CAS TPP: Impact Analysis degree (15 ECTS), MAS TPP participants will expand their horizons by taking elective courses from other programmes that put science in perspective (15 ECTS). They will also have the opportunity to practically apply their learning by carrying out a Policy Analysis Project, supervised by an ETH Senior Researcher or Professor (15 ECTS).

It is possible to upgrade to the MAS TPP degree after having completed one or both CAS TPP degrees. It is also possible to apply for the MAS TPP degree directly.
